My 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, chassis ZFFLA13B000049185 is a fantastic Euro Spec LHD example, finished in Rosso over Nero with extensive recent expenditure, and a large history file dating back to the early 90’s. History of the Car Chassis 49185 is a great example of the very sought after 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, and presented in Rosso over Nero, it is the perfect Ferrari colour combination. This car is not to be confused with the ubiquitous LHD USA-Spec cars that have the large bumpers and less power, and although it has the federalized side marker lights, make no mistake that this car is a Euro Spec 308. The recorded mileage of 52595 miles from new is trustworthy given the condition of both the exterior and interior trim, and there is a huge history file with the car dating back to the early 1990’s, with numerous receipts and bills for parts, services and work undertaken over the years. Since importation into the UK by myself, the car has been UK registered; MOT’d and assigned the aged related plate of B551 RRT. It has also received regular maintenance and has been sparingly but enjoyably used as part of a 4 classic car garage. The car not only comes with a large history file, but also retains its original tool and jack kits, spare space saver wheel and owner’s manual pouch set. Body The car was originally California Azzuro Blue with Crema interior, but more than likely received a repaint in it’s current Rosso Ferrari Red during the 90’s when a Ferrari had to be red! The paint presents well, and has been fully detailed, giving the paintwork a deep gloss shine finish, with no micro-blistering or orange peel. I honestly believe that although the car presents very well, it deserves a full respray in its original colour, and with very few 308’s delivered in California Azzuro Blue, it would certainly stand out. The glass is the original Saint Gobain glass installed on Euro Spec 308 QV’s, and the bumpers, lights, wheels and trim are all in very good condition, spare a couple of light cracks in one rear indicator. Nevertheless, the bodywork is in summary, extremely well presented. Mechanics The 3-litre V8 that is synonymous with the 308 and gave birth to the lineage up to the 488 that we see today, is in very fine fettle. Moreover, being a 1984 Quattrovalvole example, it doesn’t have the unreliability associated with early carburetor cars, nor the lack of power in the 81/82 production 2 valve fuel injection cars. Having owned 2 QV’s simultaneously for the past 5 years, they are superb cars, very reliable and sound fantastic. This particular example pulls strongly through all gears and feels quicker than my other car, and with the stainless steel exhaust it howls past the 7000rpm redline. The car has received a full cambelt service from Ferrari SpecialistMigliore Cars in Bromsgrove, along with other routine maintenance (bill included in service history) and has completed less than 100 miles since the service. The intake plenum was also recently refinished in the period correct crackle finish red paint, which really sets off the engine bay. The car has an MOT that is due to expire in August 2020, but a new MOT can be arranged prior to sale should the new owner request this. Consequently this 308 presents very well, starts on the button, drives tightly and is mechanically superb. Electrics Electrically the car is very good, with all the original Veglia Borletti instruments, lights and even the horn working on the button, as they should. The Air Conditioning works perfectly and the windows are fast having had the motors recently replaced. Interior The interior of the car is in good condition, and all original, retaining its original seats, carpets, gauges, headlining and even steering wheel. The vinyl was connolised from Crema to Black, but could easily be retrimmed to the original specification should the new owner prefer that. The dash is in very good condition, as are the seats and door cards, with some slight cracking and age related wear as expected. Nevertheless this Ferrari represents a great car to be used and driven rather than a trailer queen. Boot The boot space is entirely original with correct carpet and full tool and jacking kits in their bags. The front “boot” is also all original, and has the rare space saver spare wheel. Summary This has to be one of the best Euro Spec 308 QV’s on the market today, complete with a substantial history file, along with the original tools and books. It has been mechanically looked after with substantial recent expenditure, treated to a full paintwork detail and is the most reliable 308 money can buy.
